Who we are
Our Story
In 2019, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities developed the climate change staff grant program to help small and medium-sized municipalities across Canada to make plans and implement actions that increase the municipality’s capacity to adapt to climate change or reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The climate change staff grants are offered through the Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program (MCIP) delivered by FCM and funded by the Government of Canada.
A Community of Practice was created to provide a network for support and technical guidance to grant funded staff of the member municipalities. Staff participate in periodic peer-learning calls and webinars with other members, and receive one-on-one coaching from an experienced adaptation/mitigation specialist.
The Municipal Climate Action Hub is one of the resources provided to the Community of Practice across Canada. It focuses on providing municipal staff with curated resources on climate change mitigation and adaptation, tailored to the municipality’s current progress and institutional readiness in the respective areas.
